Something noted by the admin of the LDR group I'm a member of on Facebook after one girl recounted an experience with someone who just did not get why she was doing it...

When people say they would/could never do it I am shocked and disappointed to hear that they wouldn't be willing to go through anything for someone that the "love" enough to spend the rest of their life with. Knowing that the rest of your life will be happy/with the person you love is more than worth it despite any challenges... that is if you fully and deeply love them

Which is my response to the 'separate lives lead to separate partners' bitch (who's boyfriend was also in that class...'course neither is the brightest bulb, so maybe they deserve each other)

This is part of what makes my LDR so tricky. We live much closer than most LDR couples, and get more rewards in terms of seeing each other right now. But I have no expectation that we'll ever live closer, let alone "spend the rest of our lives together." I'm deeply rooted in NYC, and even if my girlfriend thought she'd enjoy living here (and she doesn't), her wife hates New York with a burning, fiery passion. We'll probably be in a long distance relationship for as long as we're in a relationship...which makes it hard to see what the payoff is for struggling through how hard it is now.
