Sooo, just got back from Twilight...if you've read the books, nothing's really a spoiler but still

First of all, I should preface by saying I haven't read book one in almost two years (I think), unlike the people I went with who had reread recently. So I wasn't as pissed about some apparent changes.

-Rant: Too much speeding. Yes, Edward shows off a few times to make a point, but...I think it was overdone.
-Rant: I think they condensed everything after James showed up way too much. Particularly the lack of focus on Jasper.
-Rant: I think they also condensed the visit to the Cullen house and the story of Edward changing too much (though I could be putting something that happened in a later book into book one re: the Edward changing thing. They blur together a bit).

Now!

-Rave: The cast. Oh my God. I'd seen very little before-only trailers. So I didn't have any real idea of what to expect. Everyone was so wonderful. Jasper and Alice...I'd never really shipped them heavily before, but the people who played them (yeah, I only know Kirsten and Robert) did it so beautifully understated...mmm
-Rave: Speaking of beautifully understated-MEADOW! I had really expected Glittery-Edward to be overdone. But it wasn't. It was so fucking beautiful. And so lightly touched. Mmm.
-Rave: The ballet studio scene. Really, just that. So great. Especially after Bella starts losing conciousness, it was just so wonderfully but lightly violent...
-Rave: The lack of the crappy Bella's lullaby being in the film. I'm not sure if what they played was an original piece or not, but it was lovely.
-Rave: Just...Bella and Edward. I almost cried a few times. I know, I know the story. But...now that I'm with someone, I identify with Edward so much more. And particularly in the almost gang-rape scene...I felt my blood boil. And I think Robert did such a wonderful job of being angsty-protective.
-Rave: The music!

I'm sure there's more. But overall...yeah, not perfect, but no book to movie ever is. They stayed faithful to the spirit, which some movies *cough*BloodandChocolate*cough* don't. What changes they did made sense.

Well worth the money, at least in my opinion.
