I have to protect her...

Kat: June 23, 1981
The hairs on the back of her neck stood straight up at the thought of her husband. He was evil, pure and simple, and she had proof! Lucifer had reason, Set had reason, Smaug had reason! No reason existed for the way the bastard ass acted. She licked her split lip, shivering slightly at the memory of the beating that had caused it. Yes, the bastard was evil. If it weren t for the threat he posed she would have told her brothers about him long ago, but he could easily pin any of the older men before a thing could be done. Plus, if he even had an inkling that she might tell he`d destroy her and all dear to her.
A gurgle from the bundle in her arms caught her attention. Kat s gaze softened as her green eyes took in the sight of her daughter, the best thing in her life. Young Annabelle Ackhart`s sights were pinned to the sky, gurgling and giggling as she watched the bats above feast. Her mother smiled, stroking the little one s mahogany hair. It was all worth it for her. All the pain and suffering in the world was nothing compared to the pleasure Mrs.Ackhart felt watching her two-month-old laugh. All joy quickly left her face however, when a familiar voice harassed her ears.
"Kathryn!!" The aforementioned turned to see her mate, standing on his grandmother s porch, staring down at her. Forcing her gaze steady, Kathryn stood up and began the trek back to the house.
"Coming Moe!"
As she walked she kept repeating the same mantra in her head.
'At least we're alive.'
Kat Ackhart slowly closed her eyes, taking in the symphony rising from the pond before her. She had to admit the property owned by her new in-laws was gorgeous. A melding of water, earth, sky, plants, and animals, all meeting to create a near perfect piece of art, and of course, to balance out this piece of Heaven, Hell had to be right on the grounds. For shame.
