What the hell is up with my mood theme? Several little icons keep lyaing ontop of each other. Ah well. So Bri didn't tear this chapter to shreds, thus I give you...

Curt opened the door to the small flat and looked around, sighing when he didn't see Mandy in the front room. He started walking towards the bedroom when he heard the floorboards creak. He turned his head and saw Mandy standing in the kitchen doorway, a cup of coffee in her hand. She was wearing that fluffy pink robe and her eyes, bloodshot and puffy, matched it.
He coughed softly, looking at her.
"Hey Mand. Sorry, the guys-"
"Cut it Curt, I know you were with that boy" Mandy walked into the den, setting her coffee on the table in front of the couch.
"It doesn't really bother me that much, you know?" she sat on the arm of the couch, picking up a pack of cigarettes and lighting one.
"I just want to know one thing."
Curt walked around to sit by her, watching as she took a deep drag off the cig.
"Yeah?" his voice was soft, he feared coming on too cocky. He really was sorry and wished she'd accept a simple apology, but knew it wouldn't be that easy.
Mandy sighed, closing her eyes.
"Was it because he was a guy, or because he looked like Brian? If it was the first, that's fine. I mean, if I could find one nice enough I'd really like to shag a bird once in awhile."
Curt swallowed, unable to glance at her. She knew the answer, but he didn't want to say it.
"Curt?" she whispered, her voice on the edge of tears.
"Please, look me in the eye and tell me it wasn't because he reminded you of Brian."
Curt ran his hands through his hair, sighing.
"You know Mand. Why are you asking?"
Mandy closed her eyes, feeling the tears run down her face.
"I was hoping I might be worth an attempt at lying" she took another puff off the cigarette, then stood up, walking towards the bedroom.
"I've been up all night. I'm going to try and get some sleep. When I get up, I'm going to start packing my things. I'll be gone by tonight."
"Mand-" Curt stood up, holding out out his hand pleadingly. Mandy shook her head, turning away.
"I'm sorry Curt. I can't do this again. I can't let him interrupt my life again. I'm so sorry. If it had been any other boy for any other reason, maybe. But..." she shook her head, swallowing hard to fight back a sob.
"I can't play second to my lover's boytoy again. I just can't" and then she walked into the bedroom and slammed the door, leaving Curt in the den, face in his hands, trying not to cry or hit himself for his stupidity as her ealized he'd just lost the best thing in his life.
