Dec. 1st, 2008 08:34 amSo, finished Middlesex early this morning (around midnight, because the neighbors were being their annoying selves). I really loved it. I think the thing I loved most was how Cal was not a stereotype. Or, at least, not a stereotypical tomboy before transition. He didn't refuse to wear dresses, and he wasn't forced to wear makeup. Yes, some of it was to fit in, but part of it was Cal being Cal. I'm always confronted by the 'I always knew' thing, and Cal, although ficitonal, confirms that we don't always know. I was pretty damn girlie way back when-and I still am at times. And even as an adult, Cal is not a stereotypical male. And I loved that. Bravo Mr. Eugenides.
Oh, and my strap-on shipped today ^_^ And *facepalm*I'll probably have to reorder Bri's gift due to a typo in the credit card number...even though it looked like the charge had been pending in my account. Gaaaaaaaaah.
