Due to the fact I'm otherwise out of clean clothes (will do laundry tonight) and that it's cold enough for binding to be comfortable, I'm going to wear one of my suits today. With a tie.

So, getting dressed a bit and tying my first tie (the tie I chose had previously been tied by the person who gave it to me, but I feel like that's cheating somehow). Wish me luck? And if it turns out, yes, I'll try to get pictures.

ETA: Oh! And since they don't put out mail on Saturday--I'll be getting my vest and the nice tie I ordered before I knew I'd be getting this bunch tonight. Squee!

ETA again: How am I suppose to watch the video showing me how to do it and do it at the same time? *sigh*I know part of this is my dumb hands and my visual-spacial problems. But...fuck it. Not in the mood for this today. I could wait until the roommate gets back as she knows how to do it, but I really want to do it myself. I'll be happy to let Bri tie my ties for me when we're living together, but having one's mate do these things seems very different from having one's roommate do it.

Oh, and would you look at that, I can't even use one that's already been tied because I can't tighten it because of the way my hands shake. Fuck, hate to think what my hands would be like if I hadn't gotten all that physical therapy for 'em.

Nick spent a whole day learning how to tie a tie, and I demanded that he teach me how to do it. I got it within about an hour... I think I wounded his ego.

I'll give you a tip: Do not use a mirror. It was much easier for me when I was just looking down at it as I tied; my brain wasn't trying to process it backwards. Also, don't worry about getting it perfect the first time. Figure out how to tie the thing first, and then fuss about getting lengths and such correct. The more times you do it, the easier it becomes.

Also, I don't know if you are a lefty like we are, but it was easier for us when we did it the opposite way that the websites and such were saying. That might even help if you are a righty.

I found a lot of cheap ties for him at the Salvation Army, if you're looking to stock up and you don't want to spend Wal-Mart or K-Mart prices (K-Mart's selection of ties is terrible, by the way).

Thanks! I'll try that in a few. I think I was just in a bad mood anyway (carry over from grandmother yesterday), so I got frustrated fast.

I got a few ties from grandmother, but most of them were pretty ugly, heh. I'm going to hit secondhand stores the next time I'm not busy on a weekend
