Apr. 21st, 2009 12:38 pmYou know what makes eating your lunch hard?

Why? Why isn't society (as a whole) enraged by this? Because it's supposed to teach our boys to be tough?
I was harassed about my orientation before I even knew I was queer. I don't know if Jaheem would have eventually realized he was gay. Or if Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover would have. We won't know, because they didn't get the chance to know. Because schools believed that 'boys will be boys'.
Why?

on 2009-04-21 07:16 pm (UTC)You know, this irks me on the same level that school shootings do. Now, shooting somebody? Not okay, no matter WHAT they did. But I've always felt is was a gross injustice to put all of the blame on a kid who goes to shoot his school up when he was bullied and there was evidence -- COMPLAINTS -- about it. When a kid takes his own life, it's sad and they should have sought help, but when he takes it out on others? The fucking monster.
Meanwhile, what are we doing about the bullies? They need help, too! They're tormenting others on such a psychological level that these people are either willing to kill themselves or others just to feel okay again.
Fuck this society... I have a dreaded feeling that the apocalypse is coming soon. That's the only thing that makes sense with all of this death.
