Feb. 6th, 2009 10:03 amIt's weird how the stupidest little things can set off an 'ah-ha!' moment for a writer.
Example. Story I've been batting around for a few months...I've written ten pages, and know the ending and a lot of middle, but it just doesn't feel right. So I've been having trouble continuing.
Then, last night I was watching episode 7 of The Rose Of Versailles...and there it was.s
Masquerade ball. It's really the only way a few things would make any sense at all.
I don't know if I'll be able to write it today or even in the next week (Spring Awakening and OMFGhomework!) but...I have something, at least.'
***
Extra bit: I was thinking on this last night (was far too tired to write, even with tea)...beginnings are the hardest part for me. I mean, I can start with the wrong beginning...but then it just dies out. It's not like I don't know the story. I do. It's just finding the right place to drop in on the characters, and using the right POV. The wrong POV can fuck you over baaad. I'll probably end up turning this to first person, even though I find first person difficult...it seems to work out the best.
