Oct. 20th, 2008 03:07 pmArgh, I accidentally had the two things I ordered from half (one of which is Bri's Christmas present) go to the house instead of the school. ARGH! But at least I didn't order anything naughty ^_^ *goes to change shipping address on half*
EDIT: Turns out I'd shipped a book I needed for my speech to the house, and Bri's present here. So, yeah, here present's here...she's lucky I love her, or I might take it for myself ^_^ And now I'm praying that she doesn't already have it. I don't think she does, and it probably just looks so familiar since I'd been comparing prices for it all over the internet but...sigh. I know she'll apperciate it anyway, because that's my girl.

As American...
Oct. 20th, 2008 03:14 pmas apple fucking pie
These are the more blatant examples of the shit we liberals have been fed for years--since McCarthy, really. This idea that we liberals are somehow not patriotic, not right, not really part of this nation is a Cold War leftover, a fabrication. Before McCarthy, no one who dissented was called "Un-American." Before McCarthy, being a Socialist--hell, being a Communist--was considered a perfectly acceptable point of view. Not now. Now, I'm called un-American simply because I think I should retain control of my own body.
I've been a once-in-awhile reader of the woman's blog for awhile...but this is the first post that really hit me in the gut and made me remember that, no matter what the right wing tells me, I am an American. And proud of it. And just because I believe that everyone should be equal and that bodily automny is everyone's right and that war never solves anything, does not mean I am any less American than anyone else.
Thank you, Cecily. You made this 18 year old--queer--female-bodied boi's day.
