Due to the internet crazy and general life, I forgot to post about this.
On October 6, 1998, Matthew Shepard was brutally attacked and left for dead. For all practical purposes, he did die there that night, as he never regained conciousness, though he officially died six days later.
Ten years ago.
And less than a year ago, Lawrence King, a child was killed for being who he was.
At the same time, an open transwoman was on Americas Next Top Model this year, and California is (at least for now, if you're in Cali VOTE!) allowing people to marry the people they've been married to, in spirit, for decades.
I'm not sure if the world's become a better or worse place since Matt (or Brandon, or Gwen, or...) were taken from the world far too soon.
I just know that as long as our brothers and sisters are being killed for being who they are, nothing has really changed.
