Tell me someone has written a fic about Ianto being the one who was all undead instead of Owen as was originally intended. Well-written would be preferrable, of course.

Because I need to see that. But I don't trust myself to write it if it's not already out there.

Jack watches him from shadowed doorways. Ianto isn't meant to see him, or perhaps he is. It feels like an age since such things meant anything; intent, desires, wishes. One day, he looks up at Jack, caught in the doorway. Their eyes meet, but all the feelings that can be told with a glance will never breach this wall that silence has built between them. Sometimes he just looks up, sidelong, and thinks about putting his head on Jack's shoulder. Jack would hold him, warm, strong hands on his back, and he'd understand, maybe, that Ianto doesn't blame him for this. Because I loved you, and it will never matter ever again. The warmth of Jack's living flesh would be wasted on him. He turns his eyes away.

Regret? Gwen's crying at her desk when he passes by. He regrets that.
