Viva la France
Just got done watching the first episode of The Rose of Versallies. Given when it was released, the animation quality isn't great...but damn, I love Oscar. And I really wish the manga had been properly released in the US. Maybe someday *sigh*
Watching it gave me a better idea of the setting for a story I've been batting around for a bit. I'd been worried about the fact that, even though I've read/seen Les Mis and some other things about the French Revolution, I really don't know enough about the aftermath and such. I'd been talking with Amanda at anime club last night after Le Chevalier D'eon (SQUEEE!), and she suggested AU France, which it probably still will be, but also setting it pre-Revolution makes it much easier for the poor scribe, and the characters don't care since they weren't involved in politics, they just want me to get their clothes right ^_^
