Random story stuffs
Just thinking about things. Mainly how it would be so much easier to do Andy's ficlets in first person. Because I understand Andy a lot. If anyone's actually read the three stories so far, I think you can see that.
But...well...then there's Sam.
I figure it'd be best to just get everything out now. Andy eventually fully transitions (well, outside of bottom surgery-but I don't think any states require bottom surgery for an FTM to changer their sex marker due to how poor the results tend to be, I might be wrong on that). However, he isn't what you would call a macho man by any means. If someone slips on pronouns, he isn't that fussed. He plays with gender presentation a bit, and has been known to ocassionally wear makeup or women's clothing, although he doesn't see himself as genderqueer. He sees himself more as a straight man with occasional forays into transvestitism. He went a kind of long hard road to coming to an understanding of himself, but he got there and is quite happy with himself and doesn't care if someone thinks he's too much of a fairy. He's a very metrosexual straight man.
Sam on the other hand...I don't get Sam at all. Well, that's not completely true. Sam's a transwoman. She knew since she was itty-bitty that she wasn't a boy, where as Andy really didn't feel like his body was wrong until he was much older. Sam was ostracized from her family, whereas for the most part, Andy had it easy (although his mother was concerned when he started dating Sam-whole other post). Sam's had all the surgery and has been on hormones from the second she was able to get a doctor's note for it. And she gets pissed when anyone questions her femininity. She had a much harder time passing (she's quite tall and as she does work out some for self-defense reasons is fairly toned, as well as the obvious that hormones don't affect transwomen's voices as they do transmen's), and has generally just been pissed on by life. She doesn't wear dresses all the time, but she always wears makeup and goes to great lengths when she gets dressed every morning to make sure that she won't be read as male, whereas Andy just throws on whatever clothes are clean most mornings. I'm not sure if Andy is still on T (I know he did it at one point, but I don't know if he stopped), but I know that if he wants to, he can pass for either/any gender and doesn't care. This has actually been the topic of a few arguments between the two of them...
So in short...it's really easy for me to get into Andy's head. Sam, not so much. And as the (hopefully, eventual) book will be about both their stories, doing first person for one and third person for the other....ngh.
I love both of them, but...*headdesk*
