I'm not policing what you think and dream

Well my new Tori album (To Venus and Back) came today. I've only listened to the first disc so far (the studio album, the second disc is a live). There are a couple of songs I really really like, and a couple that I want to slap Tori for. The style of those is really not her, sort of technoish. Ick. And Brianna approved chapter 6, rejoice!

Chapter 6
May 12, 1974-8:30 PM

“Ami?”
Mandy snorted as they started to get out of bed to sneak out for the night when her mother opened the bedroom door.
“Yes Ma?”
Mary stood in the doorway, tamping down her criticism of the fact that her daughter was sleeping with a man who wasn’t her husband who was wearing nothing but a pair of boxer shorts.
“Why’ve ya been sneakin’ out so much? Ya know even if yer Dad and Ah don’t approve of you two bein’ together you can still-“
“Ma! It’s not that, God!” Mandy wrinkled her nose, shaking her head.
“We just like being outside together, that’s all. Besides, it’s pretty out. How can you guys sleep with a moon like that shining in your window?”
Mary shook her head, sighing.
“All right. G’night.”
“’Night.”
The second the door clicked shut, Mandy grunted and got out of bed.
“I don’t feel comfortable going out with her awake, but I really don’t want to stay cooped up in here.”
“Don’t let her get to you, luv. We’re going out, even if your dad blocks the door and is holding a shotgun.”
Mandy grinned, wincing a little as the moonlight started trickling into the room and her skin prickled uncomfortably.
“We better sneak out while I’m still presentable.”
James nodded, following her downstairs.

James sighed, closing his eyes and laying back against the cool grass, smirking when Mandy laid her head on his shoulder.
“I don’t know how you can stay up this late, wolf or not. I’m tired as hell.”
Mandy whimpered affectionately, nudging his face with her nose. Then she let out a soft sigh and closed her eyes, only to perk up a moment later. James lifted his head when he heard her growl.
“What is it?”
She barked, a quick snapping sound, and then stood up. She darted a few feet from him, barking and yapping the entire time.
James stood up, trying to see what she was looking at. Then he saw the figure walking towards them. Shadowed at first, but in a few seconds it revealed itself to be her father. Carrying a shotgun and looking incredibly menacing.
James swallowed tensely, taking a few steps towards the man.
“Mr. Handel? What are you doing out here?”
“Step aside boy.”
“Why?”
“Just do as you’re told.”
James glanced at Mandy, who was now growling and gnashing her teeth. He prayed to God that she’d back down, become the nice sedate thing he knew she was. But apparently she was trying to scare her father, something she had told him she would do if she was caught by him in her ‘true’ form to repay him for the things he had done to her in her youth. So he understood, but he still wished she wouldn’t. He didn’t want to have to get between them if it came to that.
“Why did you come out here?”
“Came to tell you t’ stay away from mah daughter, but it looks like Ah’ve got to take care of another sick animal b’fore Ah get to you.”
“M-“
“Back off boy. Ah’m not afraid to take you first.”
James wasn’t sure which happened first, Rich pointing the gun at him or Mandy bolting and tackling her father to the ground. Rich put his arms up, grabbing Mandy’s front legs after he dropped the gun. Somehow he managed to fight her away just long enough to grab the gun and shoot her shoulder.
Mandy let out a long, keening whine and then Rich moved in to shoot her again and James stepped in front of her.
“Back off.”
“What’re you doin’ boy?”
“You injured it, that’s enough. I don’t think it’ll be giving you anymore trouble. Go back and sleep off the booze, Mr. Handel.”
Rich glared at James, but when he saw the young man wasn’t going to back down, he turned away and started back to the house.
James hastily knelt down, stroking Mandy’s head with one hand and feeling her left side with the other.
“Shh…shh, it’s okay Mand. It’ll be okay…” he winced as he felt the bullet lodged into her shoulder. When she let out a loud whine, he gently kissed the fur on the top of her head.
“All right, we’ll wait until morning. That’s what you want, right?”
She glanced up at him and pressed her nose against his chin in agreement, then delicately laid herself down so her chin was against his leg, closing her eyes.

“Ami honey, you okay?”
Mandy looked up from her food, nodding.
“Yeah Ma. Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Just thought you might be a little under the weather since yer wearing that sweater.”
Mandy smiled weakly, unconsciously rubbing her left shoulder which was still stinging after having the bullet dug out of it four hours ago.
“Oh, yeah. I was feeling a little cold this morning since someone hogged all the blankets” she forced a laugh and nipped James’ nose. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught her father’s suspicious glare, but chose to believe it was just him being an ass and nuzzled James’ neck to make him even angrier, hoping his look was simply that of a father who didn’t like men groping their daughters and not something more.
