Chapter Seven

July 6, 1973-7:30 AM

"You wanna call him?"
Mandy looked up from her nails, smiling at Brian.
"Sure luv" she picked up the phone and dialed Safilix's phone number, feeling a thrill go through her with each ring. It had been a month since their meeting, and her mind hadn't left him for a moment. She'd been able to go through the rapes and chainings just because he was the only thing she focused on. The thought of his amethest eyes made her want to howl for pure joy, the memory of his dazzling smile making her mouth water.

Safilix groaned, tossing a hand out to pick up the phone.
"Hello?" he mumbled, still nuzzled deep into the covers.
"Hello dahling" Mandy purred. A shiver ran down his spine and he sat up. He hadn't seen her and Brian in a little over a month, but...he looked disapprovingly at his lap.
"What is it?"
"A surprise. Swing by, Brian's got something to tell you."
And then she hung up.
Safilix stumbled out of the bed into the shower, wondering what in hell Brian wanted that Mandy couldn't tell him over the phone. Then he donned one of Roxy's dresses, quickly sneaking out of the house.

Mandy grinned when she opened the door, wanting to sink her teeth into the flesh the low cut of Safilix' white dress revealed.
"Hello dahling. Brian's in the lounge."
Safilix nodded, swallowing as he took in Mandy's body. There was something strange about her. Something he just couldn't place. He knew they were both supposed to be androgynous, but there seemed to be a strange sort of masculinity in her.
Mandy perched on the arm of the sofa beside Brian, smiling as Safilix sat down opposite them.
"So ah Brian..." he stuttered, nervously adjusting the hem of his dress.
"What did you call me here for?"
"Well, I remembered you talking about wanting to be a singer, so I pulled a few strings and got you a gig at the Rainbow Curve. A small one, one or two song set, but it's a start."
Safilix' eyes flew open wide and Mandy giggled, surprised at the feminine gesture.
"Wow...thanks Brian. Really, this is fabulous."
Mandy smiled, stretching and standing up.
"You'd better find something to wear besides those old duds..." she scanned the closet, eyes sparkling as she held up a dark blue form-fitting evening gown, skin prickling at the thought of it on him.
"What do you think Bri?"
Brian shrugged and Safilix smirked.
"What about you Mand?"
Mandy grinned, holding up a tight pink dress.
"I was thinking this and my silver platforms."
Safilix whistled, shuddering inwardly at the thought of her muscles being caressed by that material...and without it. Mandy caught the tremble and smirked. Silly human boy.

"So, how do you think the show went?"
Mandy smiled, kissing Safilix's cheek as he slid into the limo.
"Wonderful dahling" she eyed his groin and felt her teeth sharpening. She pulled back then, afraid he might see, swiftly straddlng Brian.
Safilix groaned softly as Mandy picked up a bottle of champagne, taking a swig and then handing it to him. His hands trembled as he watched her kissing and moving against Brian, making breathy moaning sounds. He gripped the neck of the bottle tight, gritting his teeth when she groaned Brian's name and leaned against him, shaking and panting.
Brian smiled, nipping Mandy's lower lip and running his tongue along her fangs, reminding her who was in control here.
"That was wonderful darling" he grabbed her hand, pulling her out of the limo. James followed in a daze, letting the couple lead him to their bedroom. He watched as Brian collapsed on the bed, putting his wrists above his head. Mandy laughed, though it sounded rather disturbingly like a bark, straddling him again and hiking up her skirt. James snorted angrily and stormed out.

Mandy turned her head as she heard the door slamming. What the hell? She got off Brian, leaving him whimpering on the bed, and walked out of the bedroom through the open front door.
"Safilix, luv?" she called when she saw him storming away.
Safilix turned around, eyes red.
"I can't be here anymore. I can't. I can't stand the sight of you with...with...him. I...I love you Mandy. And I'm sorry, but I never want to see you or Brian ever again. I don't wanna be a rockstar.." he tore off the boa he was wearing, sliding out of the dress and pulling his coat close to his body.
"I don't wanna be a glammer anymore. I just wanna be with you" and then he walked away.

Mandy gasped as he walked away. She had expected wanting to fool around a couple times, maybe carrying on a purely sexual affair like the one Brian was 'supposed' to be having with Curt, but love? She felt the urge to fall to her fours and whimper and cry for him to come back, but instead she followed him.
"Well it's not like he's stopping you from having me. He doesn't care about me" a sob filled her throat, breaking on a soft whisper as she finally admitted what she'd known for the past three years.
"He doesn't give a damn."
Safilix turned around as she came close to him, swallowing his own tears.
"Come away with me then. I'll take you away from all this."
Mandy sighed, reminding hereself why she stayed. It wasn't because she still loved him, though some crazy part of her did. It was the fear that if she did leave, he would let her secret out.
"I can't. I'm sorry. You're better than he is. I know it. I know that when you say you're bisexual, you actually fucking mean it. But...I guess, I keep hoping that someday it'll be like it was before. Before he was famous...." a half truth. She did want it to go back to the old days, before he knew what she is, before the loss of three children..
Safilix finally teared up.
"But why? He doesn't love you! he only loves himself! Fuck him, fuck everything Mandy! Run away with me. Wcan leave right now! We'll see the world luv...together."
Mandy shook her head, fighting the urge to change, to show him why she couldn't leave. Instead she gave the only reason she could safely give.
"He has that charm. You can't deny it, I know you felt it yourself. And that's what's keeping me here."
Safilix pulled back, stunned.
"Stay with him then. He doesn't deserve you." he turned his head as he saw the bus coming.
"This is what you're missing" he pulled her close then, putting all his passion and love into one kiss. Something inside Mandy howled wildly, crying out for the joy of feeling such deep love, yet feeling sorrow for knowing it couldn't be.
He finally pulled back, jumping onto the bus.
"I loved you Mandy. Don't you ever forget that."
Mandy stood back, speaking tearfully as the doors started to close, trying to think of anything to keep this.
"If I told you that I'd tell him tomorrow I need to get a break from all this...that I needed to leave for awhile..."
Safilix sighed.
"If you told me that, I'd jump off this bus in a heartbeat and take you away from here. I know you won't though. And I guess you're right. If you love someone...let them go" and then the doors closed and the bus drove off. Mandy stood there, bathed in lamplight and moonshine for a few moments. Then, after the bus was gone, she dropped to her knees sobbing. She clutched the lampost, coughing as she felt the pain begin in her abdomen. For once she didn't worry if anyone else was around. She didn't try to fight it, giving into the pain as her bones cracked and her muscles stretched. Then she ran off into the night, coming back early the next morning naked and covered in blood, curling up beside an incredibly stoned Brian and crying into his shoulder.
